Can you have hair extentions wen you join the navy?

I dont want to cut my hair and by getting hair extentions, they will make my hair seem shorter wen its really hidden underneath in braids.Can you have hair extentions wen you join the navy?
You can do it, but it will be kept like that for 8 weeks. As long as you keep it up in good appearance you will be good, although I would like to warn you that we do have to swim, and they don't give you swim caps to cover your hair. Another thing, I'd get your hair sewn in, not glued because the way they pt and exercise in boot, your tracks if they're glued in WILL come out. Make sure it's nice in appearance and not fadish and you will be okay. Don't let the hair fall below your uniform collar, or if I were you I'd have the hair cut at the bottom lobe of your ear. I did the EXACT same thing you did and they was NOTHING wrong with it. As long as the hair you choose is a natural hair color you're fine. Some of the people here aren't understanding the context of your question. I don't know what your ethnicity is but I'm black and we can't go a whole 8 weeks with out perming our hair and we can't wash our hair everyday like Caucasians do, so by getting your hair sewn in, it will work out better for you in the long run.Can you have hair extentions wen you join the navy?
And I bet a buck none of them still understand the context of the question or they are not ';Of color.'; You will be fine.

And how do you plan to keep up the braids and extension while in boot? I know you cannot possibly think that the Navy has stylists on base that are qualified in this, or that they are going to let you go off post for base maintenance. They are allowed, but it's going to be hard to maintain. Just get the extensions when you get to your first duty station.





The reg states-


. If hair extensions are used in the braiding of the hair, the extensions must have the same general appearance as the individual's natural hair. Braided hairstyles will be conservative, and conform to other guidelines listed herein.
extensions are NOT permitted while in Boot camp. afterwards, it is at command discretion.





and BTW..the Navy WILL cut your hair to above your collar.. period.
You can have whatever you want when you join but your first day at bootcamp you get a haircut and they chop your hair off...It would be a waste of money to get them but you can.
