To have them initailly put in it costs between $500 and $900. This is for the glue kind that most caucasian/asian women get. Very small groups of hair are individually glued onto your hair. They stay in for about 2-3 months, but then you need to get fill-ins... This costs $200-$400.





I advise that you do not get them though. Reasons:





1.The hair falls out all over the place. That's kind of nasty.


2. Despite what your hairdresser may tell you, it really messes up your hair if you keep them in for a while. Really, the only way to get them out (with no damage) is to cut them out. (And they are placed pretty high on the head.) This is a major drawback if you don't want a cropped cut.


3. NO matter who does them, people will see the extention sometime. It does pay to get them done by someone reputable, but they are not fool proof!





Other kinds of extentions:


1. Hair pieces sewn into cornrows. These don't last too long and do not look as natural. Although, this is much cheaper.


2. Wigs. Hooks for wigs can even be surgically implanted to your skull so that they don't move.

As for length of time it depends on how the extension are put in glue can only last for a couple of days to a week, sewn in can last from 1 month to 4months, and fusion about the same time.
