i would like to turn them a medium brown colour.... and i heard that lightening extentions is not ideal..

If it was Blonde Human hair extentions it would be possible to go darker but Black... I highly doubt that you will be able to turn in brown. You would have to apply the lightener(bleach) first to strip the black and then the medium brown.

It's going to be very hard to strip the color out... just get new extentions.
